HEADACHE
|
Pain in the head region. There are many different types of headaches, the more common ones being tension headaches, migraine and cluster headaches.

TENSION HEADACHE
|
Tension headaches are responsible for up to about 90% of all headaches. They are typically felt as a tight pressure sensation on both sides of the head or at the back of the head.

MIGRAINE
|
Migraine headaches are typically a painful, throbbing (pulsating) headache felt on one side of the head. It is usually associated with nausea, vomiting and visual disturbances.

PARKINSON'S DISEASE
|
A degenerative condition affecting the central nervous system which affects movement, speech and other functions. It is characterized by tremors, slow movements, rigid muscles and loss of physical movement (in severe cases). |

STROKE (Cerebrovascular Accident)
|
A stroke is an acute loss of brain function due to a disturbance in blood supply to the brain. It may be due to either a lack of blood flow (ischaemia) or bleeding into the brain (haemorrhage).
A stroke is a medical emergency and risk factors for development of stroke include hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, cigarette smoking, previous strokes, advanced age and atrial fibrillation.

MENINGITIS
|
Meningitis is the inflammation of the protective membrane covering the brain and spinal cord. The most common cause of meningitis is an infection. Common symptoms include headache, neck stiffness, fever, confusion, drowsiness, vomiting and inability to tolerate light.

ENCEPHALITIS
|
Encephalitis is an acute inflammation of the brain. Symptoms include fever, headache, drowsiness and confusion.
|
|
|
|
VERTIGO
|
A type of giddiness in which there is a feeling of motion (such as spinning) when one is stationary. This is usually associated with nausea and vomiting.
