CORNEAL ULCER
|
An ulcer causing disruption in the epithelial (outermost) layer of the cornea.

|
CONJUNCTIVITIS
|
Inflammation of the conjunctiva (outermost layer) of the eye. Also known as "sore eyes" or "red eyes". This inflammation is most commonly caused by an infection or an allergy.
|
|
|
GLAUCOMA
|
A condition of the eye which develops when too much fluid builds up inside the eye, causing an increase in pressure. This increase in pressure, called intraocular pressure, can damage the optic nerve and cause loss of vision. Glaucoma may be acute or chronic.

|
RETINAL DETACHMENT
|
The retina is a thin layer of nerve tissue that lines the back of the eye. In retinal detachment, the inner layer of the retina gets detached from the wall of the eye. Retinal detachments require immediate medical attention, because if left untreated, it could lead to permanent vision loss.

|
CATARACT
|
Cataracts are cloudy areas in the lens of the eye. They can cause reduced or disturbed vision, such as fuzzy vision, glare when looking at bright objects etc. Cataracts are treated with surgery.

DIABETIC RETINOPATHY
|
Disease of the retina caused by diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy can lead to poor vision and blindness.
|

|
CHALAZION
|
A chalazion is an inflammed oil gland inside the eyelid. It forms a lump under the skin of the eyelid, and often results from a blocked oil gland.
