Dr Chng graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Her post-graduate qualifications include Masters of Medicine in Paediatrics and membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in United Kingdom. She has also been conferred Fellowship by the American College of Chest Physicians and is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Dr Chng underwent advanced training in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and Sleep Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, USA. She received training in all Pulmonary Medicine disciplines, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung function, lung transplantation, sleep and technology dependence.
Dr Chng was presented with the Lung and Childhood Young Investigator Award in France in 2002 for her work on childhood sleep apnoea.
